Josh Sales is a Portland-based video producer, cinematographer, editor, and storyteller with 20 years of experience creating documentary, branded, educational, livestream, YouTube, and social content.
He first started making videos as a kid with his dad’s VHS camera, filming family moments before he fully understood why image, timing, and emotion mattered to him. That early curiosity led him to study Film and Video at Full Sail University and begin his professional career at Disney Parks at 21, shooting and editing weddings, live events, and behind-the-scenes stories.
Working in Disney’s fast-moving production environment helped Josh grow quickly as both a filmmaker and collaborator. From there, his work expanded into client-driven and documentary projects, including videos for The New York Times, Nike, J.Crew, and Disney, along with a documentary project focused on women’s rights and institutional harm in Nepal.
From 2018 to 2025, Josh was the Lead Video Producer and Story Editor at Bonsai Mirai, an Oregon-based arts and education company. There, he helped shape the company’s visual and editorial voice across documentary films, educational series, livestreams, YouTube, social media, and campaign content. Many of those projects centered on artists, educators, and specialists, using interviews, natural environments, careful pacing, and strong visual detail to make complex subjects feel human and accessible.
Josh brings a calm, hands-on approach to production and post, with experience shaping projects from early idea through final delivery. Whether working on documentary pieces, branded stories, educational content, or behind-the-scenes projects, his focus is the same: make the work feel clear, honest, and visually grounded.
